The Church of Ast. Athanasios is located into the woods, far from the village.
It is quite different from the rest monuments of Klimatia: almost square, with a dome, a three-sided apse on the eastern wall, two rectangular recesses and a niche. An earlier narthex to the west was preserved in ruiny condition until the second half of 20th century. It was built using rectangular limestone and porous blocks.
The interrior, once full of frescoes, preserves a few samples, mostly in the Bema and the southern wall. Those samples link somehow their unknown artist to the environment of Kontaris brothers, the famous painters, though this monument is of lower quality.
